The line appears when you quit working for and appreciating those things, or you start throwing them in the face of someone less fortunate. Sounds like you have a good head on your shoulders so far!

When does someone go from having nice things to being spoiled?
I'd say my family are pretty well off. We have many material items.
I'd class myself as being very lucky. I pretty much have everything I need and want.
But I don't think I'm spoiled. I have my own job, I do well at school and I think I'm quite mature. I don't brag about what I have though. I do community service aswell.
being spoiled is you get everything weather you want it or not.

Attitutde is everything. It sounds like you've got a good one. Someone who's spoiled tends to think in terms of self gratification. There is a book by Mark Twain called "Pudd'nhead Wilson" which was made into a movie (Disney?) in which two boys who were born at the same time (he also wrote "The Prince and The Pauper" - similar theme) though of different parentage - one to a slave girl, the other to the slave owner. The mother (slave girl) thought she was doing the right thing in switching the two boys. Though I haven't read the book, (saw the movie) I'd bet it's great reading for the results. On a personal note, I have two children, the oldest was given much by well-to-do indulgent grandparents and seems to be in a "me" oriented state. My daughter, though also somewhat indulged, had more to do with me through her growing up years and is seemingly better adjusted through a lot of turmoil. Attitude is everything and she shows it.

Well, the line isn't there. It is a matter of opinion. Personally, I feel the same way you do. I am sick of my friends seeing my things that are expensive and nice to say the least and thinking I am spoiled. For instance,
My laptop: It may be an Apple and very pricey, but my mom bought it for me for getting straight
A's throughout the year and for when she is at work and I have nothing to do because cheerleading hasn't started yet and I don't start my volunteer work yet.
My cell phone: My parents are divorced and my dad was sick fof paying extra money from his cell phone so my mom got me my own on the same company.
My iPod: I don't even use it! The only reason I have it is because my mom uses it at the gym and the only reason it is considered mine is because it says my name on the back.
I feel your pain!

the line appears when material things equal love and when you do not think you could live without your material things. When people need to buy your love, you're spoiled. Just watch an episode of my super sweet 16, you'll see some prime examples

No. Spoiled is when one throws a fit because their parents put their foot down and tell them they can't have something. Some kids think that because their parents are well-off that they can have whatever they want whenever they want it without having to do things to earn them. (Have you seen the show Sweet Sixteen?). It sounds like you have a good head on your shoulders and care about others. Keep it up.

A spoiled child is Paris Hilton. An indulged child is one that may have things, but still is down to earth, does well in school, is respectful of her parents and elders. You are not spoiled. Your lucky to have parents that can give you things and it sounds like you deserve them.

You sound very fortunate and greatful. My daughter as well has her own car, horses, plenty of freedom, cell phone, private school and all the clothes she could ever want. She however is spoiled. She appreciates nothing and expects everything. She has a job, but it is only for her to pay gas and food. She constantly whines about having to work and having to spend her own money for gas. Would you like to trade places with her? I would LOVE to have a grateful child :-)

properly, it is your present funds, even although you at the instant are not entitled to funds on vacations. Plus, it is often sturdy to maintain! in my view, i don't think of you're spoiled, yet particularly, that could be a count of opinion. some human beings have below others.

I'd say when you expect ONLY nice things, and don't want to do anything to earn them, you're spoiled.
The rule I was taught is that a sin is a good thing taken too far. It's right to want nice things in your life. It's wrong to demand them as a right. Does that make sense?
