At the moment I have an Nvidia Geforce 4 MX4000 64mb....yeah I know. I wasted money. The thing is, it works quite nicely with my pc. I recently tried to upgrade to an Nvidia GeForce 6200 256mb. It ran WoW beautifully, but when I tried to run yahoo messenger, firefox, simple applications it would freeze, flash, or just plain crash. One of my friends bought the same gfx card for his shitty Compaq and it works better than mine. What is the cheapest solution to the problem? Are there any better gfx cards I should try?

It is very likely that your teeny-weeny power supply does not have enough juice for the Geforce 6200, a 35 watter. You old card consumed less than 15 watts. Try upgrading you power supply and that card should run fine. Better get a higher wattage one (>400W) so that the next time you upgrade again, it can handle new video cards. A higher rated power supply runs cooler and lasts longer.
