The grass is not always greener on the other side.... I would say that was a pretty big lesson for me. And, sadly, one that took quite a few years to finally sink in.

the importance of studying hard earlier on and getting the good marks the easy way. several examples:
- high school: didn't study hard and get the good marks and ended up with a low high school exit mark
- uni: didn't study hard till second year and ended up with second class honours
- work: didn't study hard in language *its one of the requirements of my work* and now am furiously craming
I keep telling my brother to study hard and early but he doesn't listen

that not everyone is a 'nice' person.
i learnt this by making friends with a girl - she's so insecure, she just loves to bring people down all the time. I got hurt alot before I realised its her thats got the problem.

Don't fall in love too fast.
Be careful when horseplaying near a wall as you can injure your toe and it feels like you're having a baby through your foot.
Don't eat too much meat in one day.
Don't eat too much ice cream at once.

Friendships. ^_^ Yes, friendships were a lesson for me. I've had my good times and LOADS of bad times with friends...but somehow, my friends and I have gotten through it.

~Some Secrets are better kept buried. (God. This one...*shiver* was not a good experience)
~Pointing one finger leaves you with another three pointing back at you. (Don't blame others for your problems)
~What goes around, comes around. (Especially sickness and disease)
~Live life to the fullest. (Near-death experiences tend to do that to you)
~Religion is a personal preference. (I had A LOT of trouble with this one)
