From Houston to San Jose is 1,885 mi. Driving all day, say 10 hours, you could travel about 550-600 miles. It is 1,175 mi from Houston to Phoenix - you will be there the second day. Spend the night and then another full day and a half to San Jose. I'm assuming that there is only one driver and you will be stopping for car breaks etc.
I figure you will arrive on the 4th day - with one driver and stopping for breaks.
I've given you the distances so now you can figure it out yourself as only you know whether or not the driving is shared and whether or not you will be driving a straight 24 hours. If you are driving for a solid 24 hours (sharing the driving) then you will arrive in Phoenix in that 24 hrs. Spend the one night and then drive straight throught to San Jose.
Have a good trip!

It depends on how much you drive. How many different drivers are there? How many stops? Do you want to stay in a few hotels?
You can make it in 2 days if you want. Just alternate drivers and make fast food/bathroom stops. If you want to check out sights on the way, eat at nice restaurants, stay in some hotels you could make it a week.
I have family in Texas that visits me in socal. Last time my cuz took 6 days. Cause she detoured to Grand Canyon and camped for a day. It all depends.
It also depends where in texas and where in ca. For my cousin total driving time is somewhere between 20-25 hours. It is normally around 21. So in reality with minimal gas stops and alternating drivers you can make it in one day.

From what town to what town? If you're headed for the eastern sector of Texas, that's a whole day of driving across that state right there. One hard day crossing Arizona and New Mexico, and then whatever time it takes to get to the AZ border. I say 3 days, hard driving.

Walking? Running? Biking? Driving? Train? Plane? Bus?
How fast are you walking, running, biking, driving, flying?
From the middle of Texas to the middle of California or from one particular city to another?
How many miles between these two places?
Gotta list some specifics here.
