I am getting really annoyed with the constant stuttering I have now. I started stuttering a lot this year, but not that much last year. What could be the problem?

In school this year, many of my classmates made fun of me every single day, so I didn't enjoy school that much anymore. I also wanted to move to a different school sometimes. I didn't have as many friends as I did before anymore. When I try to become friends with some people, they told me to "SHUT UP!" or "GO AWAY!"

The school year before that, things were much better because I had much more friends.

Also, there are times in class when I suddenly can't say a word at all, so they make fun of me. They all make fun of me when I stutter, so I just decided to keep my mouth shut as much as I can.

And I don't have the courage to actually speak a teacher about it because I'm afraid of losing my reputation. Also, I don't want to tell my parents about it.

What can I do about all this? By the way, I'm in middle school right now.

I sorry to hear this. If i could I would hug you "Imaginary hug" You stutter because your afraid to speak. You want to speak but at the same time your afraid what other people people would say so you involuntary try to stop your self from speaking. This is something very hard to break.
Step one believe in your self. Two who cares what other people think. I know some people can be mean at times. Don't say shut up or go away, because I think they are trying to get you mad. Sadly seeing you mad makes them Happy. Try to act like you don't care. If they continue ask them don't they have anything better to do? or say thats nice, and walk away. Those people who make fun of you are bullies ,so try not to let them get what they want. And it's okay to talk to the teacher, if people don't like you for it than they are not your friend. So far it doesn't sound like you have much of a reputation. It can't get worst. You should tell your parents, I am sure they care a lot about you and want to help. I hope one day you find true friends that care about you, and like you for who you are.

Our family found help from The Stuttering Foundation of America through their book "Self Therapy for the Stutterer." Their web site is www.stutteringhelp.org.
