Can I play Guild Wars Factions if I don't have Guild Wars Prophecies?

Just bought factions and am downloading it just making sure i havent made a mistake.

Each of the three Guild Wars Campaigns (Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall) are all playable alone, without the other two campaigns. You will be only able to play the maps, storyline, characters, and skill sets available for the specific game you bought. Which means you will not have access to Tyria or Elona, but you will be able to play all of Cantha.

If possible, you should try to get either the last campaign (nightfall) or the first (prophecies) in addition to to Factions, since more people play on those two maps than the second one. You will also have access to more professions that way and, if you get NightFall, you'll have Heroes, which are extra players that will fight with you that you can customize and control in addition to your normal character.

You haven't made a mistake. Factions was the first game i bought as well and I really enjoyed the game. If you enjoy it, you'll most likely want to buy the other 2 campaigns as well, but there is nothing wrong with having just Factions.

Ignore the guy who said you can only play 2 professions. He has obviously never played the game. You have 8 professions to choose from in Factions.

hi my name is matt too and i have all 3 and have pre-ordered the 4 and 5 u have not made a mistake but sort of made a bobo u will only be able to be 2 solts of professtions which is a let down. but if u were to get prophecies u would of been able to be the first 6. and factions is a lot harder it is right to the point your lvl3 killing lvl12 but it is killing u so u have not made a mistake just it will be a bit harder. and u just missed the dragon festival in frations biggest 1 of the year.
