Would you rather our country did nothing? If you were the president what would you do? And how would that make things better?

People are mad at Bush for the same reason piñatas are smashed open on birthdays. Because he is there.

It wont matter what president is sitting in the white house, you will have around 50% of the people taking swings at him.

Some people have legitimate disagreements with his actions, or his stances on policy. Many others will simply note the party to which he belongs and step up to swing for the cheap seats.

Conversely, there are those apologetics who will defend a president simply because of his party affiliation.

This is the sorry state of our bipartisan system.

Congress did vote for the war. However, they did so based on misleading information provided by the Bush administration. In other words, the only reason Congress authorized military action in the first place is tha tBush misled Congress. That's why everyone is mad at him. You'll see different opinions as to how much of this was deliberate on bush's part, and how much was simply a mistake. Some was definately deliberate, but soe may have been a real lapse in intelligence and/or judgement. (I'll leave out my personal opinion). There is a second reason why people are mad at bush. Basically, its this: by the end of 2006 it was crystal clear that The American people no longer supported the war and wanted the troops to be withdrawn, or at least see a beginning to such a withdrawal. Bush--despite pressure from all sides--has refused to do so. We now have more troops in Iraq than we did a year ago. There's a lot more to this, of curse. But that's the core of the reasons why people are so mad at Bush about the Iraq war. A final note--I am a historian/sociologist. For you--as a high school student--I suggest you focus on listening to programs on the PBS stations about the war (and other isues). they give much better explanations than the commercial media. Good ones are NcNEIL/Leherer, Frontline, Tavis Smiley, the MCGlaughlin Report, Washington Week, and Charlie Rose BTW-thugh its not important to your qustion, the authorization is not an actual declaration of war, it is an autorization to use military frce. The difference is a legal issue (and may prove to be important)--the practical effect of the authorization is the same as if it were an actual declarationof war. The "network news" isn't bad--whether its FOX, ABC, CBS, or NBC--but they tend to be superficial. The PBS programs have the time and less commercial pressure, so they can do a better job.

1. I'm still a little miffed over that 2000-letting-the-Supreme-Court appoint him against the will of the people thing. 2. The time for our "Country" to do something was when Bush and Co. were getting all those warnings about an impending attack from Osama before 9/11. 3. I would have listened to the warnings and prevented 9/11. If I had somehow failed in that I would have hunted for Osama. Covert ops only, with international support and cooperation. I would not have gone to war. I would have tried to find out why we're such a popular terrorist target. The "they hate our freedom" argument doesn't fly with me. I'm thinking operation Ajax might have something to do with it. 4. I would reinstate a progressive tax structure for our nation to get some money for our failing infrastructure, and redirect all oil subsidies to research and development of green energy.

Bush did do something. We invaded the right country. People are mad because we got involved in Iraq over false pretenses.

People are also mad at Bush because he has helped (along with many other people on both sides) to divide the country. The economy has been sluggish during Bush's term and he has not handled the immigration issue. People are also getting tired of his stance on certain issues such as stem cell research, a bill he foolishly vetoed. Couple that with most media outlets' tendency to lean towards the liberal side of issues and people start to hate him.

You're right, like a Republican said to me today. At least he has nothing to hide, the corruption is right in front of everybody. If a criminal don't get caught he will keep steeling in front of everybody. What are the democrats doing?

Off course I could not stop laughing.

The Clash summed it up in "Wrong Em Boyo"

Why do you try to cheat?
And trample people under your feet
Don't you know it is wrong?
To cheat the trying man
So you better stop, it is the wrong 'em boyo

You lie, steal, cheat and deceit
In such a small, small game
Don't you know it is wrong

Many people I know are angry (or disgusted) because of his continual repeated violations of federal law. He openly and proudly admits to violating federal law.

That's hypocrisy and abuse of power of the worst sort.
