1. its not even snitching, its called doing the rite thing. I bet a lot of crimes would be solved if ppl just came up and said sumething. ppl look up to rappers and when u see one of them promoting this "no snitching" crap it puts ideas in other ppl's head and they end up not doing the right thing. No one wins and everyone is left hurt....

So true. Rappers are the biggest hypocrites ever. They complain about how bad the ghetto is, yet the only reason the ghetto is so bad is because of the high crime rate and when someone tries to help reduce the crime rate and make the ghetto a better place by reporting crimes to the police they call them a "snitch". It's people like them that make the ghetto what it is today. The responses you have received to this question demonstrate the damage that rap music has done to the community, especially the black community.

I definitely agree. However, I don't think it has to do with rap artists. I think it has more to do with living in a dangerous neighborhood. What if your neighbor killed someone and you knew if you snitched that the word would get around that you told? It's not that you don't want to do the right thing. It's just that you don't want to die in the process.
The solution isn't with the rappers (though it would certainly help change the mindset) the police need to do a better job of protecting those that may want to come forward from the criminals the police are trying to catch.

No one likes a tattle teller and I dont like snitches But maybe your right and then again wrong because what if someone in your family did something so horrendous and only you and three people were there to see and no one ever found out but one out of the three told on that really close family member of yours and now that family member that you are soooo close to has to stay in jail for life? I mean would you just up and tell on someone your very close to spend most of your time with and love them dearly and then have to throw it all away because you decided to tell on them for the crime...

first off, nobody likes a snitch; look at 50 cent.....
back to the main question, you have to think of your own life......in my opinion if it doesnt directly involve you, your family, or your friends, then you have no business goin to the cops...lets say you snitch on a crime comitted by a head of a gang, when his friends find out it was you what do you think they're gonna do? sometimes its in your best interest to keep your mouth shut...and its not just in the rap game where no snitchin is promoted, what about all the stuff that happens in the military, like the mistreatment of innocent iraqi citizens, when that dude snitched on his fellow soldiers and leaked the pictures to the internet of u.s. soldiers commitin war crimes against enemy soldiers and innocent civilians, you dont think they had it out for him? "doin the right thing" isnt always honorable.

By the way its not just the men of hip hop promoting the no snitching campaign...LIL KIM SPENT ALMOST A YEAR IN PRISON FOR NOT SNITCHING.

you are wrong, if people started snitching
there would be a lot more crimes
no one likes a tataltale
and it also depends on the crime
i bet you have commited some crimes yourself
like burning a copy of a cd that your friend had
what if someone told on you for doing it
thats a 50,000 - 500,000 dollar fine
and i hate it when people single out rappers
if rap didn't excist the NO Snitching rule would
still be in affect......open your eye's people
and stop blaming rap for everything

The no snitching thing makes me so angry....

If something happened to someone in your family, you would want people to give information. "No snitching" only applies to drug dealers. People take this gangsta music so seriously and the ignorance is overwhelming.

Look what happened to Busta, he should have told the police about who shot his bodyguard and provided help to the bodygaurd's family, instead he went on with this no snitching bullshit. Someone needs to come out and say that the whole no snitching thing is bull and is hurting the community, separating us from the police, when we need to work together.
