I have a question about the Chrsyler Newport's?

Weren't they competitive with the lower priced full size cars such as the Ford Galaxie 500, Chevrolet Impala, Dodge Polara, Mercury Monterey and Pontiac Catalina or were they more upscale than those cars? I know that the Newport was the entry level model for Chrysler back in the 1960s and up to the mid 1970s.

The Chrysler Newport was the entry level to the upscale division and I would say it's more upscale than the Chevrolet Impala and Ford Galaxie but in the same league as the Mercury Monterey, Dodge Polara, Plymouth Fury III, Pontiac Catalina and Oldsmobile Delta 88.

As I recall, the Newport was the lower end of the upscale Chrysler line, so I'd say it would be above the Ford and Chev but competitive with the Mercury and Pontiac lines.

I owned a 69 Newport. I believe they were competitive. I think they were a little bigger than the cars mentioned. Huge amount of room especially the trunks.
