What are some "must have" computer programs?

I want to download some free cleaners and such, which are the best ones and why should I use them? Where do I find them? I want my computer to run faster and work better. I'm sure I have errors and such that need repaired, but I don't know where to start. I've used defrag but after that I'm lost. Any help would be appreciated!

Antivirus and AntiSpyware--

This is an absolute MUST for any computer user. Your computer is prone to virus attacks, and without an antivirus you are sure to get one!

Office Suite

While Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint are great programs, they can cost you an arm and a leg. There is a great, FREE, alternative to this.....OpenOffice. (Note: Your computer might have come with Microsoft Works, and if it did, that may be all you need.

I Recommend: OpenOffice ($0.00)


Music Organization:

iTunes is quickly becoming the most widely used media player. It is a fast, efficient, stable way to organize your music. Also, it has quick ways to purchase and import music. (Note: If you have Windows Media Center, this will serve the same purpose)

I Recommend: iTunes (0.00) or Windows Media Center (possibly already installed)


A good idea to look into is Google Pack as well. It is a collection of free software that is spyware free and runs quite well. You can pick and choose your software, and it will automatically update these for you.)

one would definetly be paint shop pro!Oh and dont get windows vista it isnt as good as u think,u might wanna wait awhile before u hve to buy the darn thing
