s & k...the responses you got are a snapshot of attitude for the country at large. most can't wrap their minds around the concept of a billion anything, to get their attention one might need to make it personal. maybe...how the majority of those funds end up wasted in that they create nothing that will benefit us as a society. if that money were invested in health care, education or infrastructure the payoff would be huge.

Yes, it' no news that we are wasting billions upon billions of dollars.
Here is a concept, instead of using 12 billion dollars a day to kill people, why not use it to make the world a better place, and help people.
We have too much testosterone running the world to the ground, it's time women start leading.

That's 144 billion a year. The budget is almost 3 trillion. 12 billion is .004% of 3 trillion. 12 billion is like finding 4/1000 of one penny on the sidewalk. Yes 12 billion is a lot of money but in the grand scheme of things it's nothing. This country's freedom should NEVER have a price on it.
Now back to waxing my bikini line.

I knew it. And, Millions of common sense Americans knew it before the war and that's one of the reasons why we didn't want the war in the first place. That, and we knew that Iraq didn't have WMD's, nukes, al queda and wasn't a threat like the Bush administration lied about.
