You have a bunch of ideas floating around like a cloud. When something good idea comes out of the cloud, its like the storm striking its best thought down.

when you brainstorm you just write down what ever you are thinking and then you can use those notes and move on.....
in college when i had to write papers, i would "brainstorm" write down whatever came to my mind about that topic then i would create an outline from my notes... it's nothing formal. just a lot of doodling on a paper about anything that pops in your head about the topic that you have to write about or speak about etc....... hope this helps
