Does anyone know of a bug lights up and is much larger than a lighting bug (firefly)? It makes a buzzing noise and flies quite fast. Does anyone know this bug? PLEASE HELP!

Actually, a firefly isn't a single insect...it is a name given to one of nearly 2000 species of beetles that light up and fly. Some of these are very small (about 1/4 inch long) while others are much larger (and fly faster). I'm pretty sure I've seen what you're talking about in South Texas...about the size of a june beetle with a harder shell...made a buzzing sound when flying and even some clicking sounds when captured...and it jumped like a jumping bean when it hit something like the window. It was just one of the many varieties of lightning bugs.

A local entomologist can probably give you the specific name from the description alone...or better yet, catch a specimin at take it to a bug expert (or to the library while you check out the complete book of insects or whatever it's called :)).
