We have a tree in our front yard that hangs over our driveway. Every summer, the tree produces sap, dripping it on our cars and attracting lots of ants. Help!!! I love the tree, hate the sap.

Only by killing the tree. Sap is it's life "blood".
Trim the limbs, after the leaves fall.

The only way to keep a tree from producing sap is to kill it. Sap is to a tree what blood is to us. In the winter when dormant it doesn't produce enough for it to be noticeable. The rest of the year it will.

Since you love the tree, perhaps you should look into building / erecting a prefab carport.

It sounds like a job for Al Gore. If only he had been elected, we could have outlawed the practice of trees producing sap.

I know Greased Lightning might work. I think you should tap the tree in the winter, then in spring you might not have that much sap.

Cut it down and plant another type of tree.
