The correlation may be real but the causality is in question. Remember, causality cannot be concluded from correlation. You may be able to show that certain characteristics correlate strongly with a certain race. But you cannot conclude that these behaviors exist BECAUSE the people are of a certain race.
It depends upon how strong the correlation is. It also depends on wether or not a certain ethnic group or race mostly belongs to a certain socio-economic class. Properties of classes can be confused for properties of a race. Culture must also be considered. Is this a property of culture or cultural heritage and not an intrisic property of the people? Caution must also be used when viewing any survey or study to see how it was performed. Did the numbers come from one geographical area, and so on. Not all studies are performed scientifically.

Depends, I suppose, on the strength of the correlation, and what sort of causality you attribute to it. Most such "correlations" are based on bell-curve functions and have two big problems. First, the individuals charted in the curve display the full range of variation on the behavior being charted, so, while one might be able to make a case that the behavior might be more likely for a given group, there is little predictive power when dealing with individual cases.
Secondly, such bell curves usually give no basis for determining the cause of behavior. Is it an inherent quality of race, or is it a matter of social conditions? Usually no conclusions can be drawn simply from the existance of the correlation itself.

Stereotypes exist for a reason. Some are just lies made up by insecure people because of hate (racism). But some stereotypes are useful rules of thumb that can help you avoid some embarrassment by helping you predict, to some extent, people's reaction to certain things.
I would say that it depends on your motive.

I would have to know more about which behaviors and how the correlate to which races, and the degree to which this happens in an observable pattern.

sometimes it could be a little of both.
I really don't care about the color of skin
That way you act and respected yourself and others is all people should care about but it all depends on where you are from and how your parents raised you.
But most of the time I think is it realism Some people just think it's recism or they use that as a way to try to get by.

does not everyone seek acceptance,understanding.?
races and cultures are different.Diversity in all aspects.Do you believe you are above or better than anyone? that is fear and insecurity if you have to put someone down to feel better about yourself. There are plenty of nega-holics in the world spewing hate prejudice ignorance.

It is neither it is social behavior common in certain ethnic groups.
To call it a behavior for everyone in that groups is racism.
Realism is an oxymoron that only exists in politics of the hateful (i.e. George Bush.)

Most of the time it's racism...example...I've seen people write things about BET...LOL....this is soooo funny...how can all Black people emulate the rappers and gangsta on BET...If we're all living in the ghetto or projects? See most racist are really stupid...How can they all watch cable if they're so poor. How can they watch cable if they're so busy doing all the crimes in America?...Racists are unintelligent.

The problem is that many of these stereotypes are self reinforcing, so it's best not to make a percentage chance prejudice.

The safest route would be to see all as the same. There is good and bad in all races.
