maybe you have a valve cover gasket leak and there is oil dripping on the engine and then burning.

smoke or steam? theres a big difference as to the source and correction. oil- water or anti-freeze? look for oil dripping from the manifold gaskets and hoses onto the exhaust pipes, look for anti- freeze deposits around the water hoses/connectors/the cooling finns of the radiator. check for ice melt from the a/c dripping on to the block or warm surfaces after you find where its coming from, the next step is repair or replacement and/or redemption good luck

Valve cover leak, or a little bit of anti freeze leake. maybe from the waterpump.
