My experience with women and dancing has been very negative. They prefer to just dance among themselves and become hostile towards any man who wants to dance with them, I fear they would be the same way at tango lessons.

I have also seen some of these dances performed on tv and noticed the men often wear tight clothing with their chests exposed! Do you have to wear that when taking tango lessons? I really don't want to.

You probably had been going to the wrong dance places. Anyway, Tango is a couple dance. It takes two to tango ;-) Women don't like to dance Tango without men. Those women who take tango lessons are actually interested in getting a partner for the class.

As for the tight clothing - that's for competitive Latin, they only do it for a show or a performance, and only if they chose to. Do not wear anything like that to a tango class.

Ladies who go to the tango lesson want to dance with a gentleman, because that is how tango is danced. (Although in Buenos Aires not long ago that often was not a gentleman, but a sailor, a pimp or anything wearing trousers.)
I have taken Argentinian tango lessons and I like dancing with men if they can keep their cool and really want to dance, not only come close to women.
Wow, to tango with a good dancer (that has samoe charisma too) is a thrill.

I don't know which channels you see, but never wear that outfit to a tango lesson if you don't want pretty ladies running off to home when you enter the salon. Wear a shirt with trousers/jeans. Button so your chest isn't exposed.
