Talent Agents do NOT charge actors.

They are not allowed to charge a fee to actors.

They take a percentage of what you earn, typically, 10% of your earnings.

Talent Agents do NOT charge to represent actors.

Agents want to see that you had LEAD roles in productions and that you had excellent training with professional acting teachers.

When you get a leading role in a play, mail your headshot and resume to the agent and ask her or him to attend your show.

Perform, perform, perform. Auditon for lead roles. Agents are more interested in seeing an actor with "lead role" potential rather than small parts.

You and everyone else who was ever born. If you never held a hammer would you ask to be in the carpenter's union? Did you know you could enter a professional bowling tournament for a fee of $350? Why not do that? Top prize is usually about 40 grand. You should be able to outdo the best in the world without ever trying before. See my point? You don't know anything about acting. What makes you think you could just do it? The same way you would be foolish to attempt the carpentry or the bowling you are foolish to think you can just go ahead and act. My tip for you is to forget it altogether. If you can't have respect for actors you don't deserve to be one.

Do you actually believe that a talent agency is going to work for free? How on earth would they stay in business?

Honestly, why are people always hoping to get something for nothing?
