Would love to hear from participants. My son is 9 years old and at the pre competitive level for swimming. He does know all the competive strokes but is still working on the starts and turns. He thinks he will enjoy it but I am wondering if this is too much for him. Maybe we should wait a year and send him when he is a more advanced swimmer?
thanks

that would be good for him! help him learn everything precisely. I never went to a camp, but i swam on swim team from 4-18. A lot of my friends went though. Just make sure he doesn't sneak into the girls dorms and he will be just fine(: once he gets older (8th-10th grade) if he doesn't think he wants to swim in college i would suggest he doesn't goes. but It is a very good idea. i know here in illinois they disqualify 8&unders at the big meets for wrong touches, kicks, breaths. i love swimming and sometimes i wish i would have done it (at least tried to) in college

Nike Swim Camp Stanford

I attended Nike Swim Camp in NJ when I was 11. It was the BEST experience!!! I learned so much in my brief time there that I still utilize today it's amazing. The coaches and instruction are top notch. The food was great. The video analysis was fantastic and very helpful. I also leanred about nutrition, sports massage, stretching and dry-land training. They push the kids hard but they really make a difference. I swam a million tmes better after that few days of technical training than I did after 4 years on the team alone. To this day (13 years later!) I still use the drills, techniques and explanations I learned at the Nike camp I attended. I also found out that I am a natural butterflier and began swimming - and winning - butterfly upon returning from camp.

I highly recommend the Nike camp no matter what your child's age. If he needs technique and start/turn help, this is the place to get it! by refining his strokes and turns ealr yon in the game he'll develop more fully as he ages. He's just breaching the age where swimmers become highly competitive and he will have an advantage if you send him to a Nike camp, I guarantee it. I may sound like a spokesperson but I'm not, I sincerely enjoyed my camp experience and really learned a LOT!!!

Best of luck to him!!!
