I am currently desperate for a job, but I am also desperate to move away from home. I am a graduate, applying to law school for next fall, so I prefer jobs with law firms with pay decent enough to afford an apartment and my student loan payments. I am unable to visit the law firms I am finding online, and I cant tell if they are real law firms, with real clients, or just fake websites and no clients. I want experience with a reputable law firm. How can I find an ABA law firm to work at? Is there a website that list all of the firms? Also, is Robert Half Legal a real company placing workers, or just internet fraud? I dont want to work for an 'ambulance chaser', or one of those fake comapnies on TV. I need a job soon, else my dad is going to make me take a job here, and I cant stand living at home anymore. Cannot network at home, nobody with law connections. No local law jobs, area too rural for a large law firm with jobs and connections to the area of law I want to practice (IP).

Robert Half is legitimate. They are one of the larger staffing firms in the country, not just for legal but also for technical and administrative staff.

As for law firms, you can always look them up. Try FindLaw.Com which has a good public reference database on law firms. Or contact the state bar where the firm practices, and see if there are any complaints against the firm or its partners.

I found that law firms do not like to hire people who have completed just one year of law school. They will like you after you have completed two years, especially is your grades are good and you have made law review.
