Public transport outside the downtown and strip tourist areas is pretty woeful. Your only option is the CAT bus system as there is no light rail or anything similar. It would be a pretty big burden to live there without a car.
Here is a link to the website for the local bus system...

And the route map...

Public transportation around Vegas is suprisingly good for a city initially built around cars.
Monorail - Vegas has placed a very efficient and decently priced monorail which takes you through the strip from the Sahara casino (north strip) all the way down to MGM Grand (the south strip). The cost is about $15 per 24 hour period. Pretty good because a cab will cost you that much for one trip.
Bus - The DEUCE is the best bus for the STRIP. There is also the CAT, as one person mentioned, but on the STRIP where most of the action and tourists are, the DEUCE is the way to go. $2 per ride for only $5 for 24 hours. The bus does get very crowded at times and will slow down to a horrid pace when tons of people get on and off, but it is still convenient and is air conditioned to relieve you from the vegas heat.
Cabs are easy to get, and still affordable as long as you are not going too far. Be sure to ask around to see how much a cab ride should cost for the distance you want to travel because cabs in the vegas area will take a longer route costing you more if they think they can get away with it.
Good luck, and have tons of fun. Hope this helps.

if you're coming here to visit, public transportation shouldn't really be a problem. there is the monorail(even thought it is kinda expensive), the double decker buses called the Deuce, and taxi cabs to get you around on the strip. on the strip, they're very easy to find and locate.
however, if you're planning to move here, i suggest you rent/lease/buy a car. the public transportation for locals is not very reliable and nobody wants to be waiting at a bus stop in 100 degree weather heat. mostly everybody living in vegas has a car, it's almost impossible to get around the city without one.

Avoid taxis. Take the Deuce as your first choice along the Strip, the Monorail as your second choice. You will pay for both of those. But if you're near Excalibur, the monorail running, from the castle to Luxor and Mandalay Bay is free.

If issues are unlikely properly at homestead and your plans is to run removed from homestead, my advise is dont do it. you will get help in Oakland. Notify your community authority, call 911 or call the police and that they'll help you. it incredibly is dangerious for a 14 year previous available. travelling on my own isn't counseled. don't be a statistic. stable success
