Unfortunatly babysitting, dogsitting, or mowing lawns is about all there is. There is not much you can legally do. Maybe if you have some small family run businesses in town they would let you help them out doing odd jobs and they might be willing to pay you under the table. This means you are not a registered employee.

what do you mean by "other area"
whats another sitting job?
well, for me, I was paid to play the piano and violin at gigs. (yes I was twelve). Me and my "quartet" buddies would goto weddings and retirement homes and small social events to play small ensemble background music.
Whether your son/daughter can play the piano or violin I don't know. Whether your the 12 year old wanting a job I don't know.
All i know is that, I've wasting working my way to get money just so i can spend it on material needs when I shoulda been going out camping with friends or playing basketball. Now, after 10 years, im sitting inside my cubicle during at a nice day, being paid to go on Y!A all day

What do you enjoy?
Can you make some crafts/jewelry and set up a booth to sell them on the sidewalk or online???
I suggest you go to the library and check out the book by Farrah Gray. he made his first million by age 14.
Here's his link:

Also, read Rich Dad Poor Dad that will help you get a proper perspective on money. Let me know if you have any questions....I wish I would have done this when I was your age.. I'm positive it will help you. DeneenLewis@ yahoo.com

Determine what you want to do, then go about finding a way to do it. If you like school, you might be able to get a job tutoring a younger child that may be a year behind you in school. Talk with your parents and see what they have to say. good luck.
