It can be a good idea for old people who forget like Alzheimer patients e.g. tv remote called Fred. Coffee table called Joan(after a deceased relative) the less words the easier to remember. People grieving for a recently passed person sometimes feel comfortable with a certain object that the person liked and call it a name. so sometimes it can be a great help and comfort.

I named my car Stanley too, Sara! My previous car was an H reg Ford who was, naturally, called Henry.

I've also - very sadly - named most of my cat's toys - Snake Eyes, Mr Ted, Clarence, to name but a few. I also call my laptop Fred. I don't know why, I don't even remember how that started. My PC, however, is usually referred to with much ruder words.

I named my Volvo 240 DL "Big Daddy". It really fits too because to me he is old and kind of clunky, but has always gotten me where I needed to go. School and my two jobs would be impossible without him. Plus when my bf's car got impounded for unpaid parking tickets, he drives him everywhere too! I really love my car. He's a part of the family.

My Computer is named Tomato. Even though it is an apple, I think Tomato sounds cuter. I have a stuffed toy cow named Cow. OH! We call the Remote MOMO (Pronounced Moe- Moe). Its taken from Remote=remomote=momote=MOMO!
