Well, I don't think it would help them a lot to go after any bullpen help right now. A bullpen can be built pretty well during the off season in an inexpensive way if you scout correctly and they don't get hurt. There is no reason to trade prospects for a reliever when you're 10 to 15 games under .500 halfway through the season.
Ken Griffey Jr is still a solid draw for Cincy and he has a very big contract for a fragile fellow who is in his late thirties. They are probably asking for major league talent in a trade for Griffey and other teams don't want to give up that kind of talent for a guy who has his DL history lately, especially if he's over 35. Griffey is still very good when he's healthy as he's proven this year, but he's always been very good WHEN HE'S HEALTHY. He's awfully expensive for as fragile as he's been.
Dunn is valuable for a lot of teams but the Reds are probably asking a lot for him too. I doubt they will get major league ready players for him.
I agree with you on them having the trade bait to make some good deals, but they shouldn't waste it to rebuild their bullpen this late in the year and they are going to have to trade these guys for the players with a future, not owith a present or past.

The Reds are struggling in the bullpen right now because they have a major league leading 19 losses in the pen. The Reds are not making any moves because they are not in position to make a playoff run. If they do make any moves it will be teams offering them trades for players like Ken Griffey Jr., Adam Dunn, and Aaron Harang. Although the Reds are not going to be willing to give up such value they will have to do something at the end of the season most likely to sure up the bullpen. I look for the Reds to get hot into the second half of the season now that the pen is healthier and I think they will finish 4th in the NL Central ahead of St. Louis and Pittsburgh. The Reds won't seek trades until after the season is over though because they have dug themselves too deep of a hole.

Relief pitchers are a huge commodity on the Trade Market. Every team, especially those in contention, is looking for more bullpen help -- that drives the price for such players up. Aside from not being in contention, the Reds have a farm system that is fairly well depleted of "trade-able" talent. Those players that do have trade value (Votto, Bruce, Cueto, Bailey) are all players that the Reds would prefer to keep in their future. The veteran players that have some trade value have a variety of issues that complicate the trade process and drive their values down. Conine's liability is his age. Hatteburg is not considered to be a top-tier impact player at his position. Dunn's value comes from home-runs while overlooking his inability to drive in runs on a consistent basis coupled with his high strikeout ratio. Junior has age going against him, as well as a rather large contract. Ross is a defensive liability and piles up too many strikeouts to be a valued asset to any contenders.
As much as I (a Reds fan since I was 11) would love to see the Reds make deals to better the bullpen, I'm afraid that there isn't much of a position to deal from.

The Reds aren't making any moves because their managing is too cheap to pick up any stars, and so far they haven't been good at keeping the ones they have. Rumors have linked both Griffey and Dunn to wanting to be traded. The Reds are so far back now that there is no hope for this year, but then again, there usually isn't.

They just dont have enough money to do anything.
The Reds are one of my favorite teams (Besides the Yankees.) but to tell you the truth they are done for.
They dont have pitching what so ever.
Griffey is old, and Dunn is really the olny other star on the Reds.
