This question has been with Astrologers forever. In the 1970's there was a huge push to get Vulcan named as Virgos ruler.

Like Taurus and Libra share Venus, but display it in different ways so is the same with Gemini and Mercury.

Geminis communicate any way they can. Virgos tend to anaylze the data and bring it forth as an idea.

The reason why Mercury fits with Virgo i believe is that Virgos, Geminis and the Aquarius guys share some qualities.

Mercury looks like it's really the Aquarius tutor (the mercantile principle), and Pluto/Charo the Gemini tutors (two twin planets indicate the duality principle... and the ending, yes, of Neptune's rule).

I then wonder why nobody believes that. The Pluto and Charo are somewhat related to Pollux and Castor in the ancient mythology. And no Saturn, has nothing to do with capricorns what's that again?! :)

Mercury rules Virgo as well as Gemini. Perhaps this website is looking for a new planet to be discovered.

In the old school, Saturn was considered to be the ruler of Aquarius before Uranus was discovered.

It will be interesting to see. For now, stick with the old standard of Mercury. I find as a Virgo, that it's retrograde periods really affect me, as it will any mercury ruled sign (like Gemini).

I thought Virgo's ruling planet was Mercury. I'm pretty sure it is, though. The ruling planet is Mercury, which represents communication. I'm not a Virgo, so this is all I know.
