& then even when I go to the funeral, I deny that it's that certain loved one lying in the casket. I'm like, "That's not her." Because she looks totally different from when she was alive.

It is completely natural to do that. We don't want to accept it. That is our human nature.

Maybe it's because you haven't had closure until the funeral....and then when you get to the funeral, it's still not the same as had you had the chance to say good bye in person. There is so much left unsaid... you aren't done, it isn't final. I believe a body dies, but not the spirit. The spirit lives on, and there isn't really closure, but over time you get used to not seeing the person in body.

Because you are in denial. I think when someone dies (especially someone you don't see often), you feel like they just went away on vacation at first. It doesn't REALLY hit you until its been maybe a month or more, sadly. Sorry for your loss by the way.

Happened to me last friday morning, as I was driving to work, I remembered this guy who died in a car wreck, he was speeding, was thrown out of the car, then a truck driving by, ran over his head, it was horrible, he was my brother's friend's brother, and used to hang out w/ my friends at school during lunch, so I'd always see him everyday at school, I still can't believe the guy is dead, I'd known him since 2nd grade, we were never friends though, I dind't like him.....but still I never wished him wrong...I don't ever want to lose the people I love, (Family)

Someday someone might probably say the same thing about you. I hope it is a long way into the distant future.
