Oh I can just see it now... birds chirping, children playing, a productive person resisting confiscatory taxes has his front door kicked in and he is hauled off to jail. So peaceful. So just. So balanced. So wonderful. Awwwww. Let's all get together at the commune and congratulate ourselves for a job well done. We're so wonderful and compassionate.

Because they can't say : If one of us is miserable we all have to be miserable otherwise it isn't fair. You know like a little kid who's sibling has received a bigger piece of cake.

The inherent vice of capitalism is the uneven division of blessings, while the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal division of misery.

Tell you what, I will pay my tax willingly...go to the doctor when needed, send my children to post secondary education without mortgaging the house, marry whoever I want, smoke a dube, respect that the church has not rights in government..and know my door will not be broken in because we have a Charter that receives respect rather than a Constitution that might as well be used to line the cupboards with as far as Bush et al see it..no you enjoy yourself but I have a spare Looney should you need it when the corporate, warmongering nation you live in loses the credit rating it needs to survive.

Because most people are soft and want to help others. They feel bad so they accept such things if named right.

Personally, those who support limited government do not call these programs what they are and explain effectively how its your money and the government should not be taking it.

All it would take would be for socialized healthcare to happen and that would open the door for more socialism, and, ultimately communism down the road. I'm glad I am not the only one who sees this as a definite possibility down the road.
