Congratulations! I got married at Sandals in Negril June 3rd 2006. Sandals is a great place to get married at! They literally take care of everything for you. When you go and meet with the wedding coordinator make sue you dress up and look nice. It's a requirement we didn't know about until we got there. Realize that time is on 'Jamaica time;' down there. Our wedding was nearly an hour and half late but it was because it rained during the morning weddings.
Go easy on the make up. It's really hot down there. Make sure your dress won't drag in the sand. Mine was shin length just for this occasion.
OH!!!! Make sure you carry your dress on the plane with you. I was on a flight with about 20 other neurotic brides and I almost got into a fist fight with another bride over me placing my dress on top of hers. We didn't have access to the pilots closet like they said. My travel agent old me we would have access to a pilot closet to hang the dress in.
You don't need nearly as much clothes as you think. If I did it all over again, I would take:
3 swim suits
pj's
5 tank tops
1 nice dressy outfit
shorts/cover ups/skirts. only need a few
1 sweatshirt or long sleeved shirt
1 pair of long pants
LOTS OF BUG SPRAY!!!!
flip flops
Be sure to bring bug spray. I don't know where you are getting married at at the resort. My husband and I got married under a palm tree on the beach and there were tons of little bugs that bit the hell out of my legs and my husbands legs. Get some unscented bug spray and spray the heck out of you before the ceremony. DO NOT SPRAY YOUR DRESS!!!!
Be sure to spray before you go out at night if you are going on the beach at all.
One thing you have to do when you are there is the Dolphin Swim. We got to swim with dolphins and get pictures taken with them, that was defiantly one high lite of the trip for us. It's like 300 American dollars to do it. Don't worry about exchanging your money, everything runs off American dollars down there. It's more of a hassle to use Jamaican currency. If you insist on exchanging your money, don't do it at the airport. You get ripped off.
Sign up for snorkeling and things like that. We had a blast. You have a photographer that goes with you and get pic's of you underwater.
Have someone following the wedding photographer when they are taking pictures. We chose some from the wedding photographer and then my sister in law took the rest and got great pictures.
Be sure to leave room in your bag for the stuff your bring home. You don't think you will but you will!
Hit up the spa. The Red Lane Spa is fantastic. My husband and I got several massages there but the day after our wedding we had a couples massage with champagne and fruits and a special bath soak after the massage with flowers and sea salts. It s was amazing!
Above all have a great time! We had a blast and wouldn't have changed anything about our wedding other than my father being there to walk me down the aisle and my husbands mother surviving long enough to see us get married.
Be sure to give the people at home the number of the resort and your room number. After we got married we came back to the room and there were tons of messages from our friends and family wishing us congratulations.
You have chosen a very special way to get married and in Jamaica they are VERY accommodating and know how much your special days means. I can't wait until we go back to celebrate an Anniversay there!!!
Again, congratulations and ENJOY yourselves!

I just got married at the Starfish Trelawny on 6/2/07. Make sure you visit Dunns River Falls - it's so much fun! Also, if your resort is an all-inclusive and it states that there is no tipping - be sure to TIP! They will do more for you and remember you if you do. Also, HAVE FUN & RELAX. The Jamaicans were the most welcoming people when they know you are getting married. I've never known people to more excited and proud than Jamaicans. If you haven't chosen your time of your ceremony, I would do it early (we got married at 10 AM). The weather is perfect at this time of day. It is hot, and the later in the day, the hotter. I had a really heavy dress, with a long train. The sand didn't make the bottom dirty, but it wouldn't have mattered because you only wear it once!

The most weight that is healthy to lose in a week is about 2 lbs. Realistically you will not get the body of a super model in 2 weeks, but doing a few sit ups every day and eating right up until you go on your trip will make you feel better about it. Also, find a bikini that flatters your shape and that you love. If you know that it's a rocking swim suit you will be able to flaunt it! But honestly 155/5.6 isn't bad and you're going to Jamaica! Just have a fabulous time and don't stress over your body.

I've been to Jamacia twice(2006 &2007) during this time of year it's gonna be HOT. Stay hydrated(water not alcohol), keep your makeup light if you can no foundation if you do use water based because after a couple hours in the heat, your face will feel 3ft. thick with the make up, wear light air clothing. wear your hair up to keep it off your neck it'll keep you cool. Keep in mind the sun is alot more intense in Jamacia than say Florida. I didn't believe my boyfriend at first when he told me the first time around about the sun, but he was right, you want to apply sunscreen or block frequently. I got sunburn the first day we were there. :( But I don't let stuff like that spoil a trip. Go snorkling, you'll be spoiled by the fresh food, and the clean air. THe hospitality is incredible. and just have a great time! Congrats and good luck! Ps tell your bartender you want a Purple Rain...trust me you'll be hooked!

Sunshine....don't worry. Just ask the resort to take care of everything for you. You can use their stylist if you want or just do your own thing. Remember that your documents for the license must be submitted at least 6 weeks before the wedding, and you must be on the island at least 24 hours before the ceremony. The important thing anyway is to relax and enjoy the day, no matter what happens. For your rehearsal I am going to suggest that you do it a couple days before the wedding and NOT the day before because the general elections will be held on Aug 27. Just communicate this concern to the resort and let THEM reassure you that everything will be ready on your wedding day. God bless!!

I stayed at the sandal in Montego bay, I had my hair done there and was very happy with it they did just what i asked for. I'm a makeup artist so i didn't have that done but they seem very professional there and the staff are really friendly and will go out of there way for you. Look in some magazines and find some pictures of what you want to show them. You will have a wonderful time, good luck :)

dont worry about it. I use to live in Ocho Rios and sandals is a good place for a wedding. Dont worry about your hair and make-up. They already got a salon inside the hotel and everything is prepared from the moment you booked a wedding with them - all you got to do is to turn up with your husband and get married.
You can consult with the stylist too if you picky about your hairstyle - if you dont liek what they offer - no problem. Just let them take you to colleen's salon about 2 minutes away on ocean village shopping centre - they do bridal hair and make-up and the results are fabulous.
good luck

yes, if you are getting married there you should know the proper spelling of the country, it is Jamaica, secondly it is very warm and tropical, so don't wear a heavy, sleeved beaded gown, go for simple elegance, perhaps a backless, sleeveless form fitting gown, little makeup, mascara and lip gloss!
