I live in the heart of college football. I live where the ACC meets the SEC. I love college football. I mean love it. I'm a normal productive citizen between mid January and late August, but when college football season rolls around, that's all I care about.

But why do you so called college football fans continue to schedule your weddings during the fall? Why? What's wrong with a beautiful spring or summer wedding?

I have people I barely know invite me to a wedding and get pissed when I say no! Of course I'll go, I'm not a total *** and I do have a heart, and if I don't, my wife will kill me!

I was just hoping someone could explain this or let me know they feel my pain!

Thank you, Delilah, for giving me an incredible insight into your mind. No...seriously...thank you for contributing so much to the conversation.

You are not alone my brother. Anyone with an ounce of class would take the football season into consideration when planning a wedding. First of all more than 50% of marriages fail so chances are you can make it to their next wedding, if indeed you still want to be friends with someone who'd do such a dastardly deed.

Personally I don't think a real man would ever allow this to happen. Considerer yourself lucky that you just dodged a bullet and weeded out a sissy wanna be man friend from your life.

A Wedding during football season, leave america you unpatrotic turd.

I agree with you. Where I live there is NOTHING bigger than the Ohio State- Michigan game. The bride usually thinks she's being cute by planning an "Ohio State" themed wedding with Scarlett and Gray, but in the end- we are all in a corner huddled around a tv to see the score at the reception instead of enjoying their special day like we would have in April- August. Granted, not everyone cares about football... they really don't know what they're missing!

I agree 110%. With the town I'm from and literally all of my friends having been teammates in high school and college, I can say that nothing upsets us more than a fall wedding. I'd rather sit through a ceremony in mid-July with no air conditioning and no fans than go to a wedding in the fall.
Football isn't America's most watched sport for no reason. It's a short season and people want to get their fill.
Weddings are VERY important and don't get me wrong it's the most special day in a couple's life and yes it's her day, but what's wrong with the months of March-August?

My wedding was the same Saturday as the Notre Dame v. Michigan game in 2006. Guess what 2 schools half our guests went to? We made sure the DJ annouced the score and that there was a TV at the musuem where we were married at so guests could catch the highlights. It actually made for alot of fun conversations and helped all our guest get to know each other! But no my colors were not gold and blue. GO BOILERS!!

No, I get mad as well; I also get mad at little kid's birthdays (my kids' friends or nephews, neices). Now, I am not saying not to have these things from Sept to February, during Pro and College Football seasons; that's too much to ask. But, couldnt they check at least the local teams. So, for me, I don't expect you to worry about the UCLA/Washington game, but JC!! can you avoid the Ohio State Michigan weekend!! or for you the Florida/FSU. Sure, I could argue the big match ups like I do want to watch 'Bama Auburn or the USC/UCLA game, but I won't. I will at least limit my issues to the local games. And yes, that includes when Ohio State plays Cincinnati or Kent State, it's still a Buckeye game. If its a night game, schedule wedding for 12noon. If a 12noon game, schedule wedding or birthday party for 6pm. Oh, and don't assume Sunday is okay, now cuz if there is a Bengal game, forget it. I'll send the wife and kids and you can bring me a plate of food and slice of cake. Thanks my love.

It's often because whoever set the date for the wedding isn't a sports fan and never considered that option. Also, whoever proposed can often be blamed--most weddings take place 1 year after the proposal--most brides want a year to prep. I think every wedding planner in the country needs to know this!

I know exactly what you mean. I think all weddings should be held on the weekend between the AFC NFC Championship games and the Super Bowl. No football on the tube and it does not screw up nice summer weekends!

I feel the way about baseball that you feel about football.

Actually I have it worst since most weddings are in June and July. If it is a close relative or a good friend... they will not schedule it when I cannot attend. If it is just a acquaintance.. I send a gift/card along with my condolences at not being able to attend.

I feel your pain brother. I used to live in Athens, Ga. I was a bartender for a catering company, and i would usually have to work stupid weddings when all of my friends were tailgating/going to the game. The part that really pissed me off was that 9 times out of 10, the groom's cake would be some sort of UGA football cake. I didn't understand. If you like UGA football enough to want it in cake form, why the hell would you let your bride-to-be schedule your wedding during a UGA game?! Women, can't live without 'em, and they ruin everything.
