The poster above is correct. American Sign Language is accepted as a foreign language at MANY colleges and even some high schools. I've taught it as a foreign language at both levels.
However, it's a matter of choice for you. BOTH jobs pay exceptionally WELL! However, you could probably get a job using sign language quicker than you could with Spanish, as sign language is a tad easier to pick up than Spanish.
After a year of signs, you could be really really good. After a year of Spanish, you've got beginner year under your belt.
It's really up to you and which interests you more, because both have tremendous benefits in the long run.
Either way you will be earning great money, and working with people assisting communication between them both.
THAT'S pretty cool. :-)
Good luck!
P.S. Why not take a summer course first and see which appeals to you more?

Depends on what you plan to do after high school. Both would make you very marketable. If you learn sign language you can get a job as an interpreter (colleges will pay your tuition +, if your are willing to work as an interpreter). Sign language would also be very beneficial if you are interested in working with individuals with disabilities.
Spanish is very good as well, especially with the growing number of spanish speaking people living in America. You can work as a translater for companies, you can tutor or teach non-english speakers.
You could consider learning both if you are motivated to do so.
Good luck,
R

Why don't you take Spanish in High School, as it seems a relevant course for furthering your education. And look into a evening or weekend course at your local college or deaf school for sign language. Best of both worlds, good luck

Sign Language.
It is considered a foreign language by the majority of Colleges.
You would be using the language to communicate to fellow Americans who happen to be Deaf.

you will probably have forgotten either one by the time you get to college.. but keep in mind that most degrees in most universities require a foreign language.. and spanish is offered a lot more often than sign language... although I have to admit it would be kind of neat to learn.
