I built a "Viking fence" out of a bunch of tree limbs once. You basically weave limbs in and out of some poles made from thicker limbs. Let a climbingplanet grow up the fence and you have a great looking area border.
Mine lasted a very long time until my dog tried to climb it.

(more specifically, I put four posts in the ground made of thicker branches, place about two feet apart. I then used more bendable branches to weave the fence, alternating front and back starting position on each level. Not all the branches were long enough to span the entire length, that's where I added another branch to finish off the level)

It's fun to build and attractive, too

I saw in a southern living magazine where a lady made arbors and furniture out of it..maybe a gateway..make sure to treat the wood though....I know looking at the article made me want to use wood like that..I have also seen slices of wood used as clocks the kits are avail. at places like hobby lobby. In any case, have fun with it! I know I will use the grape vines to make wreaths this year..you can incorporate those into arbors also!

I've used it for retaining walls next to dirt ledges and for making raised garden beds. But, it will begin to rot eventually and it attracts termites if it is not treated. making raw wood furniture and fences can be fun and useful too. Logs under one foot diameter can be cut or drilled to make some nice birdhouses, esp. for bluebirds.
