Yesterday at the beach i got wacked pretty hard on the right side of my head by a body boarder. Luckily my boyfriend was their cause i blacked out for like 10 or 15 seconds. I had a really bad head ache yesterday and my dad thought that maybe i had a concussion. I have a head ache again today. could it just be a bruise or should i get it checked out?

anytime you get hit in the head hard enough to make you blackout, you should have it checked.

You definitely had a concussion if you blacked out. Getting checked out by a professional is always a good idea to make sure you don't have some of the problems described by some of the more dramatic posters. However, most likely you just have had a "simple" concussion.

You may have headaches on and off for several days to several weeks. You may have difficulty reading or concentrating. Good news is these symptoms, post-concussion syndrome, do eventually go away.

Get it checked out! Not to insite panic, because it is unlikely, but my friend was hit in the head with a baseball and what was first diagnosed as a concussion, later wound up being a blood clot. Don't mess around with head injuries. Just think of what is housed up there.

You should get it checked out. You should have went to the E.R. when it first happened. There are a such thing as light concussions and the person will not even have symptoms.

If you have a concussion you should check to see if your pupils are dilated with a flashlight. If you feel really sleepy this is another sign, but DON'T go to sleep because you could end up in a coma! Also if you can't stand up right and you feel really dizzy that's another sign. If you don't have any of these symptoms then I personally wouldn't worry about it.

GO TO THE DOCTOR. I had a friend who went into a coma after a concussion and later died. What's so tragic about this is, it might have been prevented had she seen a doctor.
