I have a 15 month old daughter and I am still breast feeding. I was a little sore in the beginning, but after a few days the soreness went away. It is more convenient to breastfeed. I fed by first daughter formula and with my 15 month old there were no bottles to wash. At night, I would pick her up when she was hungry and feed her, no bottles. Breastfeeding is healthier then formula. Formula doesn't compare to breast milk. Breastfeeding helps the baby's immune system. I started back to work after three months and pumped while I was work. I do not regret breast feeding my 15 month old. It doesn't hurt, it is the best thing you can feed your baby!! Whatever you choose, breast milk or formula, good luck with your new baby!!!!!!!!!!!

Breast feeding is not painful unless your nipples get cracked and sore, anf there are good creams that will heal then should this happen. Speak to the nidwifw about avoiding cracked nipples.
If you breast feed your baby you will be giving it the best start in life. No allergy problems, perfect digestibility, built in immunity against some illnesses, less likely to be obese in later life, higher IQ. Give it a try. Even if you only last 2=3 months your baby will benefit.
Formula milk is a substitute for breast milk, but it is not as good for babies, you have to get up in the night to warm it, breast is just there when you need it, It's uncomfortable when your breast milk is drying up if you dont breastfeed and can lead to mastitis.

Breasfeeding never hurts. If you learn how to properly latch your baby, even teeth will not be an issue. You would benefit from a class and your baby's daddy should attend the class too.
I am not a breastfeeding fanatic, but as a Mom who wanted to do whatever I could to be a good Mom and had the luxury to be a stay at home mom -I thought it would be irresponsible of me to formula feed. It's so easy!!
Here are some reasons why you should consider it.
Good for baby:
It's Custom made for them=Perfect nutrition.
1. Assists in proper intestial development.
2. protects against: bacterial meningitis, diarrhoeal infections, respiratory infections, SIDS, ear infections the list is almost endless
3. Breastfed babies have a lower risk of developing certain childhood cancers, and lower risk of Hodgkins disease.
4. Less likely to become obese later in life.
5.They say babies that are breastfed are associated with a higher I.Q.
6. few cavities, better speech development,
(if you are having agirl)
1. decreases chance of breast cancer later in life
2. decreases chance of MS later in life.
Good for Mom:
1. helps prevent post-partum haemorrhage
2. decreases moms risk of breast & ovarian cancer as well as developing osteoporosis.
3. Baby's suckling helps shrink uterus
4. No recalls. No artificial flavoring. No growth hormones, additives. No chemicals.
5. It's easy to prepare, free, always the right temp, good for the environment, and baby's poo isn't nasty like forumla babies.
*bonus* helps mom lose weight (After the recommended year of breastfeeding- you should be at your pre-preg weight/size)

OH! The horror stories I heard when I was prego about breastfeeding, lol... The only pain I have EVER had is 2 days after I had my daughter I had woke up that morning and my breast were swollen because my milk had came in, it was uncomfortable but tolerable until I tried to pump it out:( So I took two of my painpills(the dr knew I was b/f when he prescribed them) and pumped it out just fine:) The only other problem I have had since is when my daughter wakes up at night to eat and falls asleep & I am then a pacifier but I don't mind at all, just gets a little sore after a few mins!!! But thats only happened a few times...
My daughter is almost 8months old and is such a fast learner!!! She is almost walking:) She has never been sick until this past Friday she has an ear infection:(
Hope this helps in your decision!!!

Breast fededing is really good thing for you and the baby. I breastfeed my youngest son and he did very well. He three years old and since I breastfeed him. We have a speical bond and you would to. Get help the baby immune system and help them fight for any kind infections. It doesn't hurt. When I have another baby I would breast feed it. It a really good thing for you and the baby. Also help you down size after birth. It would go faster then not breastfeeding.

i think of maximum folk have listed the substantial transformations right here. basically a pair of strategies to characteristic. Breast milk has the fore milk (watery, thirst quenching milk) and hind milk (rich, fatty and relaxing milk) which follows a couple of minutes later. as quickly as I convey, that all and sundry gets mixed together, so each each now and then my toddler has to have some water besides to make constructive his thirst is quenched. I went decrease back to artwork while my toddler replaced into 3 months, so pumping replaced into the only way he gets my breastmilk interior the day time. So from that standpoint, it truly is a actual constructive. yet as quickly as I had the alternative between breastfeeding or pumping, i could % at present from the breast every time.

Actually, breastfeeding did hurt me for the first two or three weeks. However, it is worth it. It is much better for the baby and you automatically lose the weight you gained when pregnant. I lost 60 pounds after my first one. It does not hurt after the first few weeks. You also save a lot of money by not needing to buy baby formula. I always nursed mine for a year and weaned them to whole milk.

It is the right thing to do, and it only hurts until you get used to it or if you don't treat your nipples right, or if you are doing it incorrectly.
Besides all of the nutrients and antibodies you will give your child- and, BTW, it's not about you anymore, it's about your child, so even if it hurts (like I said) it's in your child's best interest...it actually is quite relaxing- for both of you...it helps you bond and it'll help you lose weight faster, too...
