No....not the toilet!!!!

Every marriage has a chair. The chair represents the control seat of the marriage, and represents what the marriage revolves around. The person sitting on this chair is the person who is the control and center of the marriage. For a marriage to work, the person sitting on the chair needs to be the right person. In your marriage, who is that person? Choose from the list of possible combinations below.

1. The Husband
2. The Wife
3. The Husband and the Wife
4. No one at All
5. Jesus Christ

In our marriage, Jesus sits on that chair. However, there are times when we try and take control. Those are the days when everything goes wrong.

I am not married and am single so 70% of the time I place Jesus in that chair but have been known to try to run the show myself.

None of your answers really works for us.
We share the chair ... I am a Christian and he is a Pagan ... so needless to say it can be an ... odd ... household. Sometimes he sits in the chair and sometimes I do ... mostly I let Jesus sit there. Hubby doesn't really get it ... but he respects my beliefs ... probably better than I do his - but I do try to keep myself from "preaching" at him.
We have certainly traveled some rough roads, but after 7 years things have smoothed out. We've discovered that chair is more than big enough for all of us.

The husband and wife should share the responsibilities of their marriage and make choices based on the needs of each other and their family. Our Heavenly Father doesn't expect us to come to Him with every single thing in our lives, but He does expect us to make our own choices and then come to Him for confirmation that our choice is right (or possibly wrong). Then we choose as a couple to follow Him.
It would be silly to say that God is not a part of our marriage, but He isn't the only part of our marriage, because without a man and a woman to be partners with Him, there would be no marriage at all.
Is this a question or were you just wanting a podium from which to spew your thoughts?

There's no chair of control in our house.
Whoever came up with this chair theory probably wants to sit in yours.

Let me rephrase one of your lines. For a marriage to work you have to marry the right person. In my marriage that person is my wife of 30+ years.
We try to cooperate. Sometimes it does not happen but the concept that either one of us "controls" is bizarre to me.
The concept of "control" in a marriage is a bit archaic, don't you think?

I also believe that Jesus was not intent on controlling you either. I think a re read of the scripture may indicate that Jesus wished you to live and love willingly according to his teachings. The concept of control is more for the world of man, not the world of religion. Perhaps religion as a controlling medium is not serving us so well right now.

Jesus Christ sits in our chair, too. We always try to find the biblical way of doing things.

We do not have a chair, we have a love seat and we both sit in the love seat.
