If the burned area is 110 ft long and has a width equal to half that, the width is 55 ft. The area is equal to the product of length and width, making it 110*55 = 6050 square feet. I'm not sure I understand the issue with the fire. If it's saying that the original square footage was 7329, that means that the non-destroyed area is 7329 - 6050 = 1279 square feet that was destroyed by the fire.

If the width of the floor is now half the length, and the floor is rectangular, then its area is 110 * 110 / 2 = 6050 ft^2.

If 7329 ft^2 was the original area, then the area burned was:
7329 - 6050 = 1279 ft^2.

Iwidth = 1/2L = 110*1/2 = 55
So area is LW ==55*110= 6050 Ft^
So 7329=6050 = 1279 fT^2 was not burned.

if the total square footage is 7329 and the length is 110, you simply divide 7329 by 110 to get 66.6 feet in width.
to tell them how much floor was burned, measure the length, multiply it by the width of the areathat was burned, and your answer will be the amount of square feet burned.

7329 ft. sq.=x
x=110 ft.*(1/2 L)
x=110 ft.*55 ft.
x=6050 ft. sq.?

so 7329 ft. sq. -6050 ft. sq. =1279 sq. ft. wasnt burned?

so 1279 ft. sq.
