Bath all you want. I do it all the time and no you can't get TSS from a bath, you get it from dirty tampons mostly.
It heat helps to alleviate cramps, aches and pains associated with your period. Go take a bath, you have nothing to fear.

It is ok to take a bath during your period. The thing of not having a bath during your period is a very old myth. As for Toxic Shock Syndrome that has to do with tampons.

It's an old wives' tale. Having a bath when you are on your period can help soothe and relieve any stress or pain (pmt/pms!) and make you feel much fresher. When you are in the bath your body will not omit a period so you won't be bathing in blood or anything yucky!!!
However, having a bath while you are still wearing your tampon puts you at INCREDIBLE risk of getting TTS (Toxic Shock Syndrome) so really the only thing that is bad for you while you are on your period is not changing your sanitary towel/ tampon and not bathing.

no you cant get tss by taking a bath, thats probably an old wives tale. Actually a bath can make you feel loads better when your on the rag. It helps with cramps because of the warm water. If you add some bath salts, the smell and color and soft feeling of your skin will make you forget all the uckyness of your aunt flo. I remember someone saying this when I was in Jr high. My ma is a nurse and she encouraged them when I was younger. Sometimes you leak blood in the bath and thats sorta gross, but other then that, your good.

WOW! I shold be dead perhaps. I only have baths when on a period. I use sanitary towels, because my body pushes out tampons. And I would feel disguisting if i was to bleed heavily whilst not using any sanitry care in a shower.
Bathing in water unprotected (no sanitary) actually reduces the amount you realise whilst in the bath, leaving you to have a long hot soak in the bath. Get relaxed etc.
I swear by baths. I started my periods at 11 and am now 24, still alive and kicking, lol.

that is the most ridiculous old wives tale i have EVER heard. of course you can bath whilst your on. toxic shock syndrome is associated with the use of tampons. although it is extremely rare. and feels like the flu when you get symptoms. i always bathe when i'm on. i dont like a shower as i never feel really clean down there when i'm on. nothing bad has ever happened to me. what did she tell you would happen?! blood doesnt pour down out of you does it.

This is the most important time to bath/shower as infection can set in if you don't. toxic shock is caused by a tampon being left in for too long.

No, that's silly.
You get TSS (toxic shock syndrome) from wearing a tampon for too long.
Not from taking baths while your on your period.
Taking a bath while you are on can help, relieve stress and any pain.
Don't listen to your mum, mum's always say stuff to scare us!

Who told you that!!! of course you can have bath. I love soaking in the bath it relaxes me. If your mum uses tampons this is a likely cause.. Next time your near a Tampax instruction leaflet give it a read as it gives a little more information if not go to your doctors he/she will give you all kinds of advice then you can decide whats best for you. i hope this is a little help, but you have no worries.

You'll end up with toxic shock if you don't take a bath! Old wives tale so bath daily otherwise the unpleasant odour will give you away.
