its 99% effective. there is a higher chance of someone getting pregnant that has had their tubes tied (97% effective). i've taken the shot and it's always worked for me. even after i quit taking it, it took 8 months for me to get pregnant. so, it's pretty safe.

99% effective. I know a few people who got pregnant on depo.

There are no contraceptives that are 100% effective.

And, the shots (poison I like to call it) do not protect against STDs.
