I found out that Death Valley reglarly reaches temperatures in the 120s in summer...how can anyone survive in such hot weather? I read that there's a park you can go to, but is this park at the hottest/lowest point in the desert? It seems ridiculous to me that anyone could stay alive in such an extreme climate...

Death Valley is a National Park. You will be surprised how many tourists go there and stay at their resorts in the summer time. Most come from outside of the U.S. They come so that they can later tell others that they have experience living in 120+ degrees F conditions.

It the same reason why some people want to Climb the tallest mountains and travel to the the south pole to see 24 hours of sunshine or darkness. Just the same, I'm sure if NASA offer a trip to the moon for a paying tourist, somebody would pay the ticket for it and sigh the waiver. If you really think about it, going to Death Valley is relatively cheap and not very risky when compared the many extremes some people go to just to say I was there

The best time to go there is in winter. It doesn't get nearly as hot. People are there all the time, and they do all kinds of stupid things like trying to run across the valley. Nobody lives there permanently, as it is a National Monument, preserved in its natural state. It is one of the hottest places on earth, but not really much hotter than a lot of other deserts. People live in the desert all around it where the temperature isn't a whole lot cooler. People live in cities like Cairo and Baghdad, where it gets up to 120 degrees F frequently in summer. Las Vegas gets up to that temperature sometimes, but is much cooler in winter.

Yes you are able to go into Death Valley. Was a great place to ride Motor Cross when I was in my teens.

Lots of caves in the area for those of you who are Spelunkers.

Not sure about the location of the park or the conditions there...however, if you are planning on ataking a motorhoime in to the area, I would make sure it is in top condition prior to entering.

It's hot there. Extremely hot there, but you will still be able to survive there especially with water and a car with state-of-the-art air conditioning technology.

Badwater is what you are talking about, the lowest place in the US at -282 ft below sea level. Been there in the spring, and it's still blazing hot there.

Yes, you can go there. The park is never closed because of temperature. This last week it hit 129 degrees there. It is extremely dry heat with humidity below 10% and often so low that it is unmeasurable.

As long as you had plenty of water and limited your sun exposure there wouldn't be any problem.
