they might be,

St. Louis is rising back up to be a great team again
Seattle has a lot of talent and they will be in the playoffs
San Francisco has made a lot of improvements and will be pretty good this year
Arizona could shock us this year and sneak into the playoffs

most of the divisions are tough so its hard to choose, the NFC west is tough though

No. It might be the most competitive because all the teams are evenly matched, but it's not the toughest. The teams in the NFC West just aren't that good. The AFC North and the AFC West are the toughest divisions in the NFL. I would say the NFC West is near the bottom of that list.

It is the best NFC division. The bottom is falling out of the NFC East, last year's best NFC division because the Giants are a mess and the Eagles have a lot more questions than answers right now, especially about their quarterback.

The NFC divisions will be
West
East
North
South

The NFC West would probably be the 3rd or 4th best this year just like the NFC East was the 3rd best last year behind the AFC South and AFC East

This year I see the league being
AFC North - this one is a crapshoot based on pure faith(it's a big jump from #6 to #1!)
AFC South - could be lower thanks to idiots in tennessee
AFC East - Buffalo is doing all they can to screw this one up
NFC West - looks loaded (well by NFC standards that is!)
AFC West - could be higher but KC is a mess
NFC East - Giants are a mess and Eagles = ??????
NFC North - hard to get very excited here
NFC South - better than last year, let's leave it at that! ;)

The NFC West is the toughest division in the NFC, but the AFC is far superior to the NFC.

The toughest division in the AFC and therefore in the NFL is the AFC North. Baltimore has the best defense in the NFL by far and should be much better on offense (Jamal Lewis was washed up and will be replaced by Willis McGahee, who is in his prime and the best shape of his career; McNair didn't know the playbook last year and was limited as a result; Mark Clayton and Demetrius Williams are poised to breakout at WR). Pittsburgh imploded early last year, but actually won every game in the 2nd half, except for 2 blowout losses to Baltimore (which says something about how good Pittsburgh is and how dominant Baltimore can be). Pittsburgh also blew out Kansas City for one of their wins in the 1st half. Cincinnati was distracted by their crime spree, but has arguably the best offense in the league and they are decent on defense, though not great. Cleveland isn't very good, but that doesn't matter when arguably the 3 best teams in the NFL are in the same division. I see Baltimore, Pittsburgh, and Cincinnati all making it to the playoffs this year. Maybe they'll be 3 out of the final 4 teams on the AFC side.

The AFC North is the dominant division in the NFL, by far.

heck no. It's the one that shouldn't even get a playoff team because it's so weak.

The east is the toughest division in the NFC. They had 3 playoff teams last season, and washington is always a hit or miss.

The north is the toughest in the AFC. Aside from the browns, these teams all would be outright dominant in the NFC west. Also, 3 of the teams have a ligit shot at a super bowl.

Are you joking? Not even close. The toughest division in the NFL is the AFC North, followed by the AFC West. The NFC is pretty weak in general compared to the AFC. Just look at the outcomes of the last 5 Super Bowls if you don't believe me (AFC won all 5).

No way!

AFC West is. They top 2 running backs are here. Cutler is ready to shine and even the Raiders will have one of the top defenses.

What jkels says is interesting, and I'd add Panthers in 2005/2006 when they were beaten by the Seahawks.

NFC South has had 1 Champion, 1 in the Super Bowl and 3 teams in the NFC championship the last 5 seasons.

And there is no reason to think the Saints can not repeat last season success.

hahahhahaahahahahahahahhahaha

oh you are serious

not a chance. it may one of the most even division in the NFL, but nowhere near the toughest. the division winner from the NFC West last year was 9-7, and the Seahawks have won the division the last 3 years

during the 90s, i coulda said yea

but i gotta say the AFC South is the toughest. The Colts and Jaguars are always in playoff contention, and now the Titans are starting to emerge with the help of Vince Young into a playoff caliber team

Everybody know it's the AFC North. There's at least two teams from the division in the playoffs every year, sometimes three. The Steelers were Super Bowl champs in '05 and after a disappointing season in '06 are looking to get back on track with a healthy Roethlisberger and revamped defense under the new head coach Mike Tomlin. The Ravens are always a contender with their dominating defense and consistent offense. The Bengals have a high powered offense led by All-Pro QB Carson Palmer and flashy receiver Chad Johnson. Every year it comes down to the wire with all three of those teams fighting for a playoff spot.

No, heck no. Frankly, the AFC north is the toughest division followed by the AFC south. I mean the AFC north has the steelers, the ravens, the bengals, and the browns. The browns bring the division down a bit but so do the texans in the AFC south. But then again all divisions have that team that is horrible. So to answer your question, NO

It's arguable. But i would go with the NFC South. Because in the past 5 years. Each team has been to the NFC Championship Game.

2002/03. Tampa Bay
2003/04. Carolina Panthers
2004/05. Atlanta
2006/07. New Orleans
