I did a transvaginal ultrasound and no heartbeat was found. Sac was big but fetus was only around 5 weeks and doctor said that it has not grown. He suggest a D&C so that my womb will not be affected. I still have some pregnancy symptoms and huge appetite. Should I wait to miscarry naturally or have a D&C?

I am so sorry that you are going through this. I experienced a similar event and waited to have the miscarriage and luckily, I passed everything.

god speed.

The EXACT same thing happened to me. I found out on a Friday that there was no heartbeat and the doctor wanted to wait over the weekend to see if I "passed" it. I didnt and on Tuesday I had a D & C done. I had all the pregnancy symptoms too. Sore breasts and tired all the time. It was heartbreaking to find that out. But things do get better. I am now 9 months and it is a boy. I wish the best to you and only you can decide what you wanna do.

Last year I was pregnant and at my 2nd checkup (14 weeks pregnant) I also had a vaginal ultrasound done and same situation happened to me, except for my child had died at 10 weeks. First I want to start off my saying that I am very sorry for your loss. I KNOW how it feels and if you ever need someone to talk to... go ahead and email me. Second, I let the miscarriage happen naturally. I miscarried 2 weeks after I saw the doc. If your doc didnt say "ok- lets get you in for a D&C" than I would just let nature take its course. But of course it can take some time. Best of luck.

Maybe you should wait a couple of more weeks to be sure. A friend of mine had an ultrasound and they could not find the baby. The doctor thought it was a molar pregnancy and wanted to do a D&C. She waited and had another ultrasound done later. The baby showed up this time. She gave birth to a 9 pound girl!

My best friend did the exact same thing. The doctor gave her about 2 weeks to miscarry herself and nothing happened. Sometimes the body still thinks it's pregnant and the fetus is not growing. You are probably going to need the D&C if the doctor thinks that is what is best. I am sorry for you loss.

I had the same experience. I waited a few weeks before I had a D&C. I began to feel really sick and could hardly stay awake, but I wanted to wait and see if I miscarried on my own and I wanted to use that time to deal with my (and my husband's) emotions. The D&C that I had was with suction instead of scraping so that the chances of damaging my uterus were very slim. After I had the D&C, I was a little sore, but had very minimal cramping and bleeding. If you decide on the D&C, have your doc check to make sure it wasn't a molar pregnancy.

I'm really sorry for your loss. I had a m/c at 11 wks back in March. The Dr. told me that it would be better if my body did it naturally. It started naturally, but had an emergency D&C done casue I was bleeding way too much. It was hard m/c on my own mentally and pyshically especially when I couldn't stop bleeding. It's up to you. I know that ifi I didn't m/c w/in acouple of days I would had to have a D&C doen anyways.

I would give yourself one more week to expell the fetus on it's own. After this time next week if it hasn't happened I would talk to your doctor about the D&C! Is usually best to have expelling within 10 weeks and than a D&C! That way you can get back to normal asap and try again!

I'm so sorry to hear what you are going through! Rest assure I am praying for you and a quick and healthy recover!

God Bless you!

I would wait and naturally miscarry unless it to hard emotionally but don't wait with the hope that the Dr made a mistake, he most likely didn't. I am sorry tho....

Wow, I am so sorry. Is he sure that your due date is on time and there is no possibility that the baby could be turned in a way so you can't hear the heart beat? I would ask him to try again before I made any decision like that. If he is 100% positive, I would do the D&C to be on the safe side.
