Go to the mosque - they have advisers there - also don't go to the same one where the husband goes! No matter if she wants a divorce it will have to be done according to UK law but there are muslim advisers who can help to guide your friend through the muslim stuff. Best of luck.

Divorce in the UK is handled through the CIVIL COURTS -

But doing things according to Islamic Law - is something entirely different.

Talk to your Imam. It won't be easy and your friend will probably be disgraced or in some way negatively affected in the eyes of the church.

Fortunately, not all Imams are fundamentalists etc. Islam is, in fact, a very woman-friendly faith - despite veils etc. Still, it will not be easy - no divorce ever is.

Erm - she is living in the UK so it will be under UK law.

If she wanted everything to be done the Islamic way she should have stayed in the 12th Century, sorry, I mean wherever she came from.

get out while you can? People divorce all the time, its not a bad thing. Mistakes happen, they are regretable but saves you from abuse when one partner no loves the other.
