You could convert the inches into meters first, then multiply the two measurements together to get the area in square meters. Or you could find the area in square inches then find out how many square inches there are per square meter.

1 inch is 2.54 cm, or 0.0254 meters. This is the official conversion unit; anything else is just a worse-off approximation. So by the first method:
214 in * (0.0254 m / 1 in) = 5.4356 m
250 in * (0.0254 m / 1 in) = 6.35 m
Area = 5.4356m * 6.35m = 34.51606 m^2

Or by the second method, 1 in = 0.0254 m so 1 in^2 = (0.0254)^2 m^2, or 0.00064516 m^2. So
Area = 214 in * 250 in = 53,500 in^2, or
53,500 * 0.00064516 = 34.51606 m^2

They are not equal dimensionally. Presume it is converting square foot in to square metre and you want to know how much is 30 square feet expressed in square meter. ok 1 square foot = 0.09290304 square meters So 30 square feet = 0.09290304 x 30 =2.787 Square metres

Just convert each side into meters:

214 inches = 5.4356 meters
250 inches = 6.35 meters

Now multiply the two sides:

(5.4356 m) * (6.35 m) = 34.51606 m^2

Then round to 3 significant digits:

34.5 m^2

1 meter = 39.37 inches. (linear)

So, one square meter = 39.37 * 39.37 inches = 1550 in^2.

Now it is just a simple matter to find the square inches of the room as...

214 * 250 = 53,500.

So, if we divide 53,500 by 1,550 we get meters squared... Or about 34.5

How's that?

There are 39.37 inches in a meter.
So 214 inches = 214/39.37 = 5.4 m, and
250 inches = 250/39.37 = 6.35 m
So Area = =34.29 m^2

214 x 250 = 53500.sq ins
53500 :-144 =371.52 sq ft.
371.52 x .0929 = 34.52 sq mtrs.
The constant to convert sq ft to sq mtrs is obtained from B.S. 350 of conversion factors.
