Near Kismet, the railroad had a hard time crossing the Cimarron River. They called the town, Kismet, because of this. The word means "destiny" or "fate" in Arabic. Kismet was founded by A.C. Olin. He build a Bible school here and outlawed the sale or drinking of liquor in Kismet.
