Unfortunately there are plenty of poverty stricken jewish people. They are not as visible as other groups, since the community looks after them. Here in South Africa approximately 5% of the Jewish population is below the povertyline, but they are not a visible group as the community looks after their needs- from providing free private schooling in Jewish day schools for their children, to providing housing, food, clothing and all their other necessities.
its not that there are no poor Jews, its just that we look after our own and provide for their needs- including the Ethiopians in Israel who are supported by the government.

Might be nice if the first sentence were true, but it isn't -- there are lots and lots of poor Jews. Just as there are lots of poor Christians, Moslems, Buddhists, atheists, etc.
I'll give the original poster the benefit of the doubt, and assume that he doesn't know a lot of Jews.
