I'm writing my first mystery novel and am in the naming my characters stage - with so many cool names out there I'm finding it hard to choose!I need names for 3 30-something year old men (2 cops and a coroner) and 1 college student, early 20s, male! Suzy p: I do watch Home and Away but when choosing these names only Peter, Ric and Dan immediately sprang to mind as also being characters in that - they're definately not named after them

Danny's the kind of name that with age turns into Dan, which if he's your lead, can be were he end's up.
Felix. Just because that is a geek name and a coroner has to be geek and a bit of a freak.
Cop names are hard because you don't want a wuss name. Or a young name because they are in their 30's.
I like Ray. And Malcolm.

I would say for the college boy McCauley not something you usually see in a book and would stand out. The other three i would choose Chase, Trevor, and Nick. They are all good names but i think i would remember those names in a book. Thats what i remember most when i forgot a book for a tiem and want to reread it i look for the names i recognize.
