Good question I was just thinking this thought this weekend at a family party I sometimes wonder if men care about money and more money .........I think in the professional world like Corporate America I have seen many snobish people who were quite intelligent and had great wealth but not an once of CLASS not one once hahaha.............
I think men and woman both size people up not gender specified I think each person is looking for different things in their lives and some are very materialistic and money hungry..............I would hope the people with intelligence are not just into money but soloving world probelms and contributing to all for a better way of life whether they have money or not :)))) Have a great week my friend :)))

I think wealth and intelligence has a bit of impact on sizing other men up, but those are very broad. I think women do the same thing its just a general thing people look at. And no those aren't the only thing that we use to size each other up, e.g. family, friends, values

I can't say I would really "size up" another man at all (unless I were competing for a business opportunity, or some scenario like that.) I would size up any competitor, male or female, as that is what smart entrepreneurs do.
But otherwise, an adult male is simply a fellow human being. I would take an interest in someone who has hobbies or professional experiences I consider interesting, the same as I would with any person male or female. I'm more interested in forming friendships than "sizing up" people.

Er...
I would say unspoken characteristics are more defining.
To quote one of those late Supreme Court Justices, "I know it when I see it." So do other men.
Sorry for being vague.
