Pete Sampras and William Renshaw have 7 each. Renshaw won 6 in a row, but that was back when the defending champion only played one match.

Borg and Federer have 5.

Yes. Federer is the 2nd person to win 5 in a row (2003-07) after Bjorn Borg acheived this feat in the late 70s (from 1976-1980). Sampras won 3 in a row (1993-95) and then 4 in a row again (1997-2000).

Yes, he's the second man, after Bjorn Borg, to win five consecutive Wimbledon championships. Pete Sampras did not win 5 consecutive wimbledon titiles, although he was an amazing player.
The last match Federer played just goes to show that there really is no match for him on grass.

Actually, he is the 4th man to do it.

Before him, William Ranshew, Bjorn Borg and Pete Sampras did it.

Ranshew won 7 titles in Wimbledon, 6 in a row.
Borg won 5 titles in Wimbledon, all of t hem in a row.
Pete Sampras won 7 titles in Wimbledon, 3 in a row, then 4 in a row.

Yeah baby.....Bjorn Borg did it before for 5 successive times...Roger did it from 2003-2007 for 5 successive yrs...Pete Sampras...I think had a total of 7 Wimbledons to his credit.but they all were not consecutive...
Roger is not the only one winning 5 Wimbledons....he is only second to take them 5 IN A ROW..first to win 5 wimbledons in a row was Bjorn Borg

Pete was unfortunately stopped by a big serving Dutchman named Richard Krajicek in the quarterfinals one year. If he had not lost that year and went on to win against Mal Washington in the finals, Pete would have won 8 straight. As such, instead he only had streaks of 3 and 4 which is far less memorable. Next year will be the big one for Federer since that is the one he needs to win to pass Borg, otherwise he still has nothing over Borg.
