My Top Ten --
1. Learn to be patient. It will not only decrease stress, but other people will think you're very smart and highly developed.
2. Happiness is not a permanent state that can be attained. It is merely a feeling of contentment and peace. Though you can be happy overall in life, you'll still have troubles along the way -- and that's ok, because without hard times we wouldn't appreciate good times. Life is the JOURNEY -- it's not some destination.
3. Don't live your life for others' approval. Be an independent thinker, don't cave in to peer pressure, and don't follow fads and fashions. You of course have to sometimes strive to make a good impression, but in other areas of life do what you like as long as you're not hurting anyone.
4. Never hestitate to say "I'm sorry." Regardless of the transgression, the offended party will be impressed by your humbleness and sincere regret .
5. Give money to charitable organizations, and do so anonymously. It's the ultimate selfless act -- as opposed to giving something with the expectation of getting recognition in return -- and makes you feel absolutely wonderful. It's also very good for one's karma. Oh, and strive to do small acts of kindness for people, regardless of whether you know them.
6. Wash your hands frequently. I'm not being flippant. I'm also not a germophobe [sp?], but having worked in a hospital and taken health classes, I've learned that germs and bacteria are just everywhere. Scary. As a rule, never touch one of the openings in your head unless you've just washed your hands.
7. Ignore the calendar, in terms of how old you are. I'm chronologically 45 years old, but I'm really still about 25 inside. [This may be due to my not having kids, but there you are.] Remember, calendars were invented solely so farmers would know when to plant and when to harvest.
[Oh and speaking of kids, I've learned from friends and family that the worst way to raise a child is to try to be its "friend." The child can have friends outside the home -- inside the home, it needs parental authority to learn from. Oddly, though this is the way my parents raised me, all of my siblings practiced none of it when raising their kids -- oy, I have some utterly ill-mannered nieces and nephews.]
8. In conjunction with #7, ignore pressures from society to behave a certain way based on your age. Though I handle my considerable heavy responsibilities just fine, I nonetheless find time for simple pursuits like watching cartoons. One of the greatest sayings I've ever heard is this: "We don't stop playing because we grow old -- we grow old because we stop playing."
Actually, this also ties in to #3 above -- not being concerned with others' expectations. I think this is why a lot of people automatically think that they MUST get married and that they MUST have children. As we know from statistics, many are simply not cut out for marriage and/or child rearing.
9. Live by the golden rule -- treat others the way you want to be treated. You'll invariably encounter people who return your courtesy and/or kindness with hostility, but you can take comfort in knowing you're simply a better person then they are. :-)
10. Never eat at fast food restaurants -- not even a salad. That stuff is just terrible for you. If you're in that much of a rush, go someplace like a deli or Subway -- at least the food will be fresh. Most of the garbage at fast food is processed and dead and devoid of real nutrients.
Also, cut out sugared sodas and instead drink lots of water -- your body craves it.

Reality is responding to the contents of your mind which are mostly unconscious. Don't let the learned egoic self control your destiny. Observe it and master it.
"To be who you are and become what you are capable of becoming is the only end in life."
To accomplish this, "give up what you do not want, and keep what you do" as you move through life.
To remain centered on your life journey remember, "What is Real cannot be threatened and what is Unreal does not exist. Herein lies the peace of God."

Don't worry so much about it, laugh at everything you can. If we're only gonna live once, I'm gonna have the most fun I can before I kick the bucket.

Nature does not care, we do. Mediocrity is a vice of the doomed. Be your own cause. Support evolution - shoot back.
