I'm still relatively new to this stuff, and I can never count my period right. Do I start counting 28 days off from the first day or the last? Also, how long should I expect my period to last? How many days out of the month?

I've had it for about a year. Yeah, it was never really explained in a way I actually understood.

Don't feel stupid. How would you know unless someone taught you? Use a calendar. Jot down a symbol on the FIRST day you see your period. After a couple of months a pattern will emerge. Count from the first day of the last notation to the first day of the next. In the beginning you will fluctuate and maybe even skip a month. Eventually a pattern of 26 to 30 days will emerge.
The duration of the period is typically from 3 to 7 days. This can also vary from month to month. Factors like illness and stress can also affect your cycles, delaying them by several days. Just keep the calendar. In about 3 to 6 months you'll be able to predict your cycles.

Start counting 4 weeks(28 days) from when it starts. You can expect it to last 3-7 days. You get it once a month, for 3-7 days, it varies with each women. You can also expect it to be irregular, because your body is still growing and changing. It could start a few days sooner, or a few days later from when you count to. The 28 days will give you a good estimate of when to expect it though. It will regulate as you get older.

Your period begins on the first day you spot blood. That is considered day one. It goes until the next time you start a period. The average period cycle is 28 days and bleeding time usually last 3-5 days.

You start counting from the first day you start your period. And every woman is different to how long you are on it. alot of women don't have a 28 day cycle. You have to start keeping track to see how long your cycle is, start counting the first day of your period.

28 days from the first day of your last period. An easier way to remember is to check the phase of the moon when your period starts, because the moon has a 28 day cycle.
Most women's periods last 5 days, but it could possibly be different.
