The Fifth Sacred Thing...I can't remember who it's by. It takes place in the very possible future. If you look at how we as humans collectively think right now and who we can as a collective conscious evolve into according to what's going on right now, it is a very possibly and scary and inspiring future indeed. It was reccomended by a friend and was the best novel that I had read in a long time, maybe even ever, as far as a fiction book is concerned. Try to google it to get some more information. I can tell you that it is political, spiritual, and VERY emotional...this coming from a person who has stomached many ww2 books.

Would you consider a true story that is written as dramatically as a novel?
The River Runs Salt, Runs Sweet by Jasmina Dervisevic-Cesic is about a girl who begins falling in love for the first time just before the start of the Bosnian war. It is every bit as riveting as fiction, but has the added advantage of being true. By reading it, you'll learn something about an important event in the recent past, but also about one woman's amazing example about how to come through adversity as a shining example of courage and optimism.
There's some awful stuff that happens to Jasmina, but she really shines in spite of her suffering. She's my hero.

Dan Brown Angels & Demons
This same author wrote the DaVinci Code. I have never read the DaVinci Code b/c it was played out. But Angels & Demons is really good. And while the story is not true the places, organizations, and scientific information is true.

Well all of Dan Brown's books are great, DaVinci Code, Angels and Demons etc. All the facts about the art and architecture are true and you learn alot about their history. Also they are fast paced and full of drama and action. If you want an interesting book that could never be true "The Time Travellers Wife" by Audrey Niffennigger is great. It is one of my all time favourites!

You can't beat "Gone With the Wind" it would be classified as a historical fiction novel. Don't let the size of it scare you, it is a great read and very educational.

For an informative fiction book, try The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver. You learn alot about what it was like for American missionaries in the Belgian Congo (in Africa) before, during and after its fight for independence.

Night by Elie Wiesel is great. It's about the holocaust, and is all true. Its incredibly sad, though
